Royal Air Force Typhoon jets have conducted a mission with French aircraft in a coordinated attack against an subterranean weapons facility in Syrian territory employed by the IS group, per a report from the UK's MoD.
The location, pinpointed through surveillance, was assessed as containing munitions and bombs, the announcement noted, and was located in mountainous terrain just north of the ancient city of Palmyra in central Syria.
"The RAF jets employed Paveway IV guided bombs to hit a series of entry passages providing entry to the site... preliminary assessments suggest the target was engaged successfully," officials stated.
There was no sign of any civilian impact in the strike late on Saturday and each participating jet returned to base without incident, the ministry further stated.
The Typhoon fighters were assisted by a Voyager refuelling tanker.

RAF aircraft have performed patrols over Syrian airspace to "prevent any attempted resurgence" of IS after its routing at the climactic battle in Baghuz in 2019, the MoD reported.
